CYBER BULLYING AND INTERNET SAFETY WORKSHOP

Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be visited by two RCMP Officers on April 11th. The students will learn and discuss issues on Bullying and Internet Safety.  The goal of the visit will be to empower students to trust their instincts and to report inappropriate behaviours.

DEBATE COMPETITION

Students in Cycle 3 are busy preparing for our annual debating competition. Starting at 9:00 on Monday, April 16th students/teams chosen from each class will compete in the gym. The “all-stars” will represent our school at the board wide competition on April 27th.

GRAD PHOTOS

Grade 6 students get your best smiles ready for grad photos on Wednesday, April 18th. Photos will be taken starting at 8:10.

VISIT FROM PETER JOYNT

We are pleased that Peter Joynt will be visiting Greater Gatineau School on April 19th at 10:15.  Peter is a local rapper who regularly speaks to schools and organisations about rapping, bullying, resiliency and stuttering.  “The Joynt” teaches the children that they can overcome anything, no matter what obstacles they face. We have had Peter visit our school in the past and look forward to his upcoming presentation. Parents are welcome to attend.

HADLEY/PHILEMON BAND

On Friday April 6th the band from Hadley/Philemon will be performing for us. We are excited to see some former students in the band.

DART

On April 20th the WQSB Drug and Alcohol Technician (Erika Tomkinson) will be meeting with our Grade 6 students to give a presentation on drug and alcohol awareness.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Once again we are raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online donations are strongly encouraged. If you do collect money the envelopes are due back to school by Friday, April 20th.

We will be having our “Jump Day” events during the week of April 30th to May 4th. Children will be divided by grade and on their day they will be encouraged to skip for the whole lunch recess!

All who participate will get to add a heart with their name to the “Wall of Fame” in the gym. The days are as follows:

  • Monday = Grade 6 and Grade 2
  • Tuesday = Grade 5 and Grade 1
  • Wednesday = Grade 4 and Kindergarten
  • Thursday = Grade 3
