February Special Notes

Date: January 30, 2018 Author: Jennifer Plaxton Categories: News Bits

This year, Winterlude will celebrate 40 years of family fun from February 2nd to February 19th.

The Snowflake Kingdom, located in Gatineau’s Jacques-Cartier Park, is definitely North America’s snow paradise. Three weeks filled with exciting activities await you. You’ll have a great time on the giant slides, stand awestruck before the snow sculptures of the National Snow Sculpture Rendezvous that will be lit up at night, boogie to the rhythm of the shows and DJ music, and enjoy the entertainment. Join the party in Gatineau during Winterlude, and come meet the mascots, the popular Ice Hogs. Free winter fun for the whole family!

In the event of inclement weather, parents and staff members will be contacted right away by Mrs. Link if you have subscribed to the “remind” app. You can also consult the School Board Website: (www.wqsb.qc.ca) for daily updates on school bus transportation and school/center closure.

Normally the School Board will post information between 6:15 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., prior to buses starting their bus routes.  Depending on weather conditions (snowfall, freezing rain) the School Board will assess the road conditions with the assistance of various bus transporters, several municipalities (public works) and French School Boards.

Thereafter, a decision is made whether or not to cancel transportation.

School buses may be delayed as a result of road and weather conditions.

An Information Evening will be held for parents at the Western Quebec School Board on February 5th, 2018 – 7:00 pm. Video-conferencing will be available for parents outside of the Gatineau region. Please register with Wendy Routliffe: wroutliffe@wqsb.qc.ca or 819-684-1313 x1163. We strongly advise any interested parents to attend. Please note: this is an information session for parents only; your child does not need to attend.
