The Council of Commissioners has unanimously supported the appointment of Kate Smith to the position of Vice-Principal of Greater Gatineau Elementary School effective July 1, 2018.

Kate has a Bachelor degree in Education from McGill University, as well as a Master in Education from the University of Ottawa.  Kate began her teaching career in Montreal, but soon after, moved to the Western Quebec School Board to take a teaching position at Symmes Junior High School in 2008.

During her tenure at WQSB, Kate has taken on and excelled at several leadership roles.  In addition to her teaching duties, she has also been a Math teacher leader, and since 2014 a consultant in the Teacher Induction Program (TIP).

Her dedication and commitment to her students, her community and to all she serves is exemplary.  Kate has an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the “Art” of teaching.  Simply put, she is an outstanding educator and a true professional.

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Kate Smith to our school next year!
