CENTRAIDE BACK TO SCHOOL SHARING STORE PROGRAM

We will be sending home an information package to all parents about the Back to School Sharing Program.  This program is to help low income families to obtain school supplies at a reduced cost.  All applications will now go directly to Centraide.  The information package will inform you of the dates for the Back to School Store.

LICE CHECKS

We ask that parents check their child’s head at least once a week, or more if their child has had a case of lice.  If you discover lice, please call the school so that we can follow appropriate procedures.

LOST AND FOUND

We have a lot of lost items here at school.  If your child has misplaced anything please drop by the school to look.  Any articles that are not claimed will be donated to charity.

COMPOSTING AT SCHOOL

Greater Gatineau School is proud to be part of the City of Gatineau Compost program. Since January, the students and staff have been composting food items, pizza boxes, and brown paper towels. This month we added 13 compost bins in classrooms and the office to collect more even brown paper. We have been successful in reducing our carbon footprint by filling four to five 240 litre city compost bins each week.

A big thank you to the students from the Grade 5 Eco-team and Ms. Gwilliam’s class, who volunteer their time to help make our school more environmentally friendly and to Mme. Geisterfer, Mme. Gosselin, Ms. Gwilliam, Ms. Kielback, and Mme. Leclair for working with these students.
